Paint and charcoal were two materials I was never very good at but I still enjoyed dabbling with them occasionally until a couple of years ago I decided to create two separate series that challenged the elements of my practice I had chosen to not practice, landscapes, paint, charcoal and trees. All these things were alien to me in a way after years of working with pen and pencil but when I applied myself to these subjects and materials I found my artistic view developed and I created more abstract work. These pieces show my journey back into the wonders of paint and charcoal and how my practice has developed since I challenged myself.
